A block of rooms has been reserved at the Cambria Hotel for the HTA Conference. Rooms are available for $149 on on the evenings of November 1, 2, and 3. Rooms will be held until October 11th. After that, rooms may still be available, but will not be guaranteed and will be sold at the available rates.
To book a room, call the hotel directly at (401) 236 – 2020 and mention the Humanities and Technology conference and/or Salve Regina University when making your reservation. For more information on the hotel, go to:
Atlantic Beach Hotel
Though we do not have rooms reserved at Atlantic Beach Hotel this year, the hotel is nearby, affordable, and has been used by several conference attendees the last few years.
If you’d like to stay elsewhere, Salve Regina University has a number of hotel partners that offer discounted rates. A list is provided at the website below, and includes the Hotel Viking and a couple of nearby Bed and Breakfasts. When booking a room, be sure to mention Salve Regina University.
Airports and Train Station
The nearest airport is T. F. Green Airport in Providence (PVD). It’s roughly a 40 minute drive to Salve Regina University in Newport, RI. Logan Airport in Boston is about 90 minutes way without traffic, but then again, there’s usually traffic, so 2 hours is probably a better estimate.
The nearest Amtrak Station is in South Kingstown, RI (KIN). I know, given the Vanderbilt presence in Newport, you think they could have positioned a nearer train station, right? It’s about a 35 minute drive to Newport, but it is a pleasant one, especially if the autumn leaves are still clinging to the trees the first weekend of November.
If you need to take a bus from the Amtrak Station, you’ll be looking for the 64 Newport/URI Kingston Inbound and will take it all the way to the end at the Newport Visitor Center.
From the Newport Visitor Center, it’s a quick trip to Salve Regina on the 67 Bellevue/Salve Regina Univ Outbound bus. You’re looking for the Salve Regina University stop, but just ask the driver and he/she will give you a heads-up.
